Great Lakes Community Action Partnership has been serving the northwest Ohio area for more than 50 years. We began in 1965 as WSOS Community Action Commission following the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, which helped create hundreds of community action agencies throughout the United States. Our letters stood for the core counties we served — Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa, and Seneca. Since then, we have progressively expanded the scope of our services, adding other counties, states and even countries to our service area.

Jo Simms from Head Start
Jo Simms has been teaching in GLCAP Head Start classrooms for more than 40 years and now works as a teacher mentor who helps guide other classroom staff. We have many teachers like Jo in nearly 30 classrooms who help preschool students learn, grow, and prepare for kindergarten.
Joyce Alridge from Supportive Services for Veteran Families
Joyce Alridge is a family advocate with our Supportive Services for Veteran Families program that helps homeless vets and their families secure housing. Joyce and our SSVF advocates have prevented at-risk veterans from becoming homeless, and have moved homeless veterans from shelters and streets into safe, stable housing.
Andy Kruse from Meals on Wheels
Andy Kruse has been a Meals on Wheels Driver with GLCAP for more than 30 years, delivering meals to homebound seniors in the Gibsonburg area. Andy and our team of Meals on Wheels drivers make sure that Sandusky County seniors are safe and have a hot, nutritional lunch every weekday.
Rural LISC has recently given a renewal grant to Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) to continue supporting GLCAP’s work in pursuing program needs for northwest Ohio communities.
In addition to utility payment assistance provided by Great Lakes Community Action Partnership’s Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP), the program also helps those who are running low on fuel supplies.
