Sandusky County Senior Levy
The Sandusky County Senior Levy supports Meals on Wheels, Senior Center activities and much more.
About the Levy
Sandusky County Senior Services are seeking a five-year, 1-mill renewal levy and additional .25-mill levy on the Nov. 4, 2025 ballot. If passed, the levies will generate $2 million annually for Sandusky County seniors.
The levy supports local seniors
The combined levy will fund services that assist nearly 900 seniors each year. The levy supports:
- Home-delivered Meals on Wheels and case management for homebound seniors.
- Weekday meals served at senior center locations in Clyde, Fremont, and Gibsonburg.
- Wellness, education, exercise, and hundreds of other senior activities each year.
- Transportation assistance, senior center facility improvements, health and safety-related home repairs and much more.
Senior centers are vital for helping older adults stay connected with the community.
Support for Meals on Wheels
"More than just a meal" — that's what Meals on Wheels is.
In 2024, Meals on Wheels helped more than 400 homebound Sandusky County seniors by providing weekday, home-delivered nutritious lunches. Drivers deliver these meals Monday-Thursday during the lunchtime hours and provide a cold-pack lunch for the Friday meal.
Apart from these meals, the service provides a vital safety check for homebound seniors. Daily visits from drivers ensure that seniors are safe at home. If a client does not come to the door as expected, staff can notify the family to check and see if assistance is needed. Meals on Wheels provides assurance to families and friends of seniors that their loved one is checked on throughout the week.
