Weatherization saves energy in all seasons

Winter may be coming to a close, but weatherized home saves energy no matter what the temperature is outside.

The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) offers no-cost weatherization for eligible residents in Erie, Huron, Lucas, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood counties. The program provides wall, attic, and crawlspace insulation; furnace and water heater repair or replacement; and other measures to improve home energy usage.

Combined, these energy-saving solutions provide year-round savings that keep homes warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and more economical all year round.

“People often think about weatherization’s benefits in the winter months, but we want everyone to know that weatherization is helpful all year long,” said Ragan Claypool, GLCAP Housing, Energy, and Workforce Director.

GLCAP provides HWAP services at no cost for residents at or below 200% federal poverty guidelines (e.g. $31,300 household of one; $64,300 household of four).
