Free welding training available through GLCAP WorkAdvance program

A no-cost welding certification course will be available soon through the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) WorkAdvance program.
The course will teach students welding principles that lead to a Gas Metal Arc Welding 2G (Horizontal Weld) certification provided by the American Welding Society upon successful completion and testing. Evening classes will take place three nights per week for six weeks at Terra State Community College for 54 total hours of instruction.
Course times and a start date are to be determined based on student interest, but the goal is to begin classes in August or September. Those who are interested in the course may call GLCAP career coaches Angela Long or Jamie Collins at 1-800-775-9767.
The training is part of GLCAP’s WorkAdvance program, which connects job-seekers to training, job placement, and support services to help them enter high-demand industries with opportunities for advancement. Program services include connections to technical training, career coaching, referrals to income supports and more.
WorkAdvance is a partnership between GLCAP and the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association and is funded by a three-year grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Good Jobs Challenge program.
