No-cost welding classes set to begin Sept. 29 at Terra
The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) WorkAdvance program is offering a no-cost welding certification course starting Sept. 29 at Terra State Community College in Fremont.
Evening classes will be four nights per week, Monday-Thursday, 5-9 p.m. at Terra. Course duration is six weeks. Class size is limited to ten students.
“Courses are ideal for people who are currently in manufacturing and want to advance their career,” GLCAP Workforce Specialist Mallory Pena said. “The course is also a good starting point for those who are just getting into welding and want to learn or improve their skill.”
Through the course, students will earn flat position certification provided by the American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector service upon successful testing and will also receive OSHA 10-hour safety training.
Additionally, the WorkAdvance program also offers career coaching support through GLCAP.
“The addition of career coaching services provides students with help for job seeking, building resumés, and other support that helps them advance in their careers,” Pena added.
