Head Start now enrolling for 2025-2026 school year
Head Start preschool programs through Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) are now enrolling for the 2025-2026 school year. Classes will begin Aug. 25.
Head Start provides no-cost, all-day preschool for children ages 3-5 for eligible families. GLCAP’s early childhood centers are located in Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood County. Head Start opportunities are also available through multiple childcare partners located throughout GLCAP’s service region.
The program offers a daily meal and snacks; medical, mental health, dental, and vision screenings; family engagement activities; and other opportunities for children and families. Children with disabilities are welcome and accommodated at all centers.
“Head Start provides ample opportunities for children to grow and thrive,” GLCAP Child Development Director Jacquie Wells said. “From the day we start school until the end of the school year, we work to ensure that all children in our Head Start programs grow, develop, and have the education they need to be ready for kindergarten.”
Families are eligible for Head Start if household income is at or below federal poverty guidelines (e.g. $32,150 annual income/family of four). Children in foster care or who are experiencing homelessness, as well as children from families receiving SNAP benefits or other public assistance are also eligible. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to call for details.
