GLCAP MSHS centers receive gold star ratings

Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Migrant & Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) centers have all achieved gold star ratings through the State of Ohio’s Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) early care and education program rating system.
GLCAP’s MSHS program provides early education services for children ages six weeks through 5 years of age for families working in agriculture or food production fields. GLCAP’s four MSHS centers are located throughout Ohio in Fremont, Napoleon, New Carlisle, and Shiloh.
Overseen by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, SUTQ is a three-tiered rating system that recognizes the state’s early care and education providers that meet and exceed quality standards. To achieve a gold star rating, programs must excel in standards that include categories of learning and development; administration and leadership practices; staff qualifications and professional development; and family and community partnerships. Programs must also meet classroom ratio requirements to earn a gold star rating.
“We are proud of our staff for working to achieve this designation,” GLCAP Child Development Director Jacquie Wells said. “The gold star rating demonstrates our program’s commitment to providing a quality education for the children and families we serve.”
