Appointments for emergency winter heating assistance available

Scheduling for Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) emergency winter heating assistance appointments will continue through the final week of December between the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Winter Crisis Program (WCP) assists households in need from Nov. 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026. The program supports residents in Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood counties who are at risk of utility shut-off, have disconnected utilities, need to establish or transfer service, or have 25% or less of bulk fuel such as fuel oil or propane.

To qualify, households of up to eight members must have income at or below 175% of the federal poverty guidelines (e.g., $27,387.50 annually for a one-person household; $56,262.50 for a four-person household). Households with nine or more members must be at or below 60% of the state median income.

GLCAP will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec 25 in recognition of Christmas and Jan. 1, 2026, in recognition of New Year’s Day. Appointments are available Monday, Dec. 29 through Wednesday, Dec. 31. No walk-in appointments will take place on these days. Those interested may schedule an appointment at www.glcap.org/winterheating, or call 419-273-4212 to schedule.
