100 Caring Hearts donates to Port Clinton Head Start
Representatives from 100 Caring Hearts of Ottawa County present a donation to GLCAP Port Clinton Early Childhood Center center specialist Melanie Miller. The organization donated nearly $10,000 to the center.
A local organization’s generous donation will go a long way towards improving play opportunities for children at the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Port Clinton Early Childhood Center.
100 Caring Hearts of Ottawa County, a women’s charitable organization, presented a $9,825 donation to the GLCAP Port Clinton Early Childhood Center on June 14. The donation will be used to purchase dramatic play equipment for classrooms in the center.
“We appreciate 100 Caring Hearts’ generous spirit,” GLCAP Port Clinton Center Specialist Melanie Miller said. “Their support allows us to enhance the learning experience for students at our center by providing new and innovative play opportunities for our Head Start children.”
100 Caring Hearts is comprised of members who each commit to donating $100 four times per year at each of the group’s quarterly meetings. At each of these meetings, members hear three short presentations about local nonprofit organizations that other members nominate to receive donations. After the presentations, members vote on which of the three organizations they wish to provide with a large donation from the group members, who each provide a $100 donation to the winning organization.
“Pooling our resources allows us to make a bigger impact than each of us could do on our own,” 100 Caring Hearts member Michele Mueller said.
The group hosted its first meeting in September 2024. Since its formation, 100 Caring Hearts has donated to Bistro 163, Ottawa County Community Foundation Rapid Response Fund, Elliston Zion Light Food Pantry, and now, GLCAP.
100 Caring Hearts of Ottawa County is part of the 100 Women Who Care Alliance and one of many chapters throughout the world.
