Volunteer Meals on Wheels drivers make a difference

Every weekday in Fremont, volunteer drivers support local homebound seniors by delivering meals into their homes. These volunteers help Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (formerly WSOS Community Action Commission) Meals on Wheels fulfill its mission of ensuring that all area seniors have access to nutrition, regardless of disabilities, illnesses or injuries that prevent some seniors from easily leaving their homes. Moreover, volunteer drivers provide more than nutrition for homebound seniors. Drivers also meet and socialize with the homebound elderly, brightening their day and helping them feel connected to their communities.

Seniors stay vibrant in Sandusky County

The annual Sandusky County Senior Day celebration brings hundreds of seniors together to enjoy music, dancing, food and fellowship. It’s one event among many offered by the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Seniors Services department to enhance the quality of life for local seniors, who have access to daily programming at three different senior center sites in Sandusky County.
