COVID Relief

Have you lost wages or suffered other financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic? You may be eligible for assistance through GLCAP's COVID Relief program.

If you have been financially affected by COVID-19 and are in need of assistance, Great Lakes Community Action Partnership may be able to help. GLCAP can provide assistance for those who need help with mortgage or rent payments, electric or gas utility expenses, water and sewer utility expenses and other needs. Assistance is available to residents of the following counties:

  • Ottawa
  • Sandusky
  • Seneca
  • Wood

GLCAP is also able to offer mortgage assistance to eligible residents of Erie County (excluding the City of Sandusky) and Hancock County in addition to the above four counties.

Please note that the availability of assistance depends on the county of residence. Contact GLCAP for more information.

Residents may be eligible for assistance if they have experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Missed work due to business shutdowns
  • Reduced work hours
  • Added childcare expenses due to school closings
  • Additional hardships caused by COVID-19 illness in the household
  • Lost wages due to quarantine

Applicants will be asked to provide proof of 30 days of household income.

GLCAP provides $1.3 million in COVID Relief in 2020; has additional funds for 2021

Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) completed 2020 by helping 987 northwest Ohio households with COVID-19-related financial assistance. In late October, GLCAP received $1.3 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) Act stimulus funding to provide mortgage, rent, water and utility, and food assistance to Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood County residents who were financially impacted by COVID-19. Funding was provided to GLCAP in late October. Staff moved rapidly, reaching out to households in need and helping people through the application process before the end-of-the-year application deadline.
