Instructor-led webinars enable busy local officials and staff the training opportunities they need to fit their schedules. Registration is required, and for many classes, space is limited.  If an event fills to capacity and a waitlist is started, when practical we will try to add another class.  RCAP will give local officials and operational staff first priority if we are not able to accommodate everyone.

In order to receive credit for contact hours and certificates of completion, you MUST be clicked on and have the webinar page or screen as your only active screen for at least 90% of the webinar. If you click off of this to open and view other webpages or desktop applications, the Webex, GoTo Meeting or other hosting applications we use can detect and record this in our attendance reports.  We recommend you close all other windows and web pages to avoid accidentally clicking on them.

So that your attendance and participation can be accurately calculated, for most on-line events you will not be able to join more than a few minutes early.  All presentations will begin promptly at the start time.  Please be sure WebEx is the only open program/application on your computer.  Please close all other windows to ensure proper credit for contact hours, if applicable.

Operations Dashboard and GIS Field Apps for Asset Management

Attendees will learn how GIS Dashboards enhance a utilities' ability to track, monitor and plan for asset management preventive maintenance activities.

The training includes a live demo of dashboards designed to help with valve exercising, hydrant flushing, inspection activities and water breaks.  GIS data will be entered as if in the field, and tools for reporting on data will be shown as well.

Drones Applications for Water & Sewer Condition Assessment

The use of the drone and its application to benefit water and sewer condition assessment. Using 4K and Infrared stills and videos to capture a clearer image of water towers and treatment plants.

The drone can also help with active smoke testing by viewing areas not accessible by RCAP operators on ground level. The integration of drones and GIS gives the community a better eye in the sky of their water and sewer system.

This training will discuss what is needed to operate a drone, and provide examples of how it has been used in the field to benefit water and sanitary utilities.

201 Financial Management for Governing Boards

(formerly titled: 201 Financial Management for Local Officials)

RCAP staff will introduce financial management best practices for water and sewer specific to planning, budgeting, accounting, customer outreach, and the importance of good reporting and record keeping. Participants will learn to build a mission along with incorporating system goals to steer policy and financial decision-making. Participants will learn the importance of maintaining good financial records. Lastly, this course will address how asset management planning informs budgeting, which in turn provides the revenue target for rate setting.

Each part will be applied for 2.5 drinking water and wastewater "X" contact hours, 5.0 hours total.

 

 

 

Water Audits - Preparation & Data Gathering

Where is the water going?

Has your system experienced areas where water loss is a big factor? This course, the first in a series of three, will address the first step in the water audit process of taking available production, usage and other data from your basic system reports from the data to analyze potential areas of water loss or leakage. The other two courses covering water audit completion and validation will be offered in the first quarter of 2022.

This course will be applied for 2.0 drinking water "OM" contact hours.

Basics of Rate Setting

This webinar provides an introduction and overview of rate setting methodologies and how they are best applied to different systems based on local needs.

We'll explain how rate setting is both an art and a science to ensure fixed and variable expenses are covered along with reserve funds while trying to set up a rate structure that will be fair to different classes of customers.

This course has been approved for 1.5 drinking water and wastewater "X" contact hours.
