The Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP) Winter Crisis Program through Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (a trade name of WSOS Community Action Commission), is now underway and will be available through March 31, 2019.
The program can help Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca County households that have a utility disconnect notice or have utilities that are already disconnected. The program also assists households that have less than 25 percent bulk fuel for heating or are in need of furnace repair.
In order to qualify, the household must be at or below the 175 percent federal poverty guidelines (e.g. up to $43,925 for a family of four) and have all required documentation with them at the time of the appointment.
Individuals interested in receiving assistance must have a face-to-face interview. Customers must bring the following items to their appointment:
- Proof of income (copies of pay stubs) for the last 30 days for all members of the household ages 18 and over, or proof of income for the past 12 months if the past 30 days is not reflective of normal income (e.g. seasonal employment)
- Copies of their most recent energy bills
- List of all household members with Social Security numbers and birth dates
- Proof of U.S. citizenship/legal residency for all household members
To schedule an appointment, call 1-888-441-4327. Assistance sites are located in Bowling Green, Fostoria, Fremont and Port Clinton. Call for details.
