In respect to Gov. Mike DeWine’s recent announcement that senior centers may reopen in late September, Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) Senior Services will now begin preparations for safely reopening its senior center services in Sandusky County.
While the governor has stated that centers may reopen as soon as Sept. 21, a set reopening date for Sandusky County senior centers is yet to be determined, and will be decided in accordance with guidance from state and local health officials so as to ensure the safety of seniors and staff.
“All of us want to open as soon as we are able, but safety must take precedence,” GLCAP President/CEO Ruthann House said.
An announcement on reopening will be made as soon as a date has been set. In the meantime, local seniors will continue to have access to Meals on Wheels, “Grab n’ Go” meals, distance programming, by-appointment health clinics, and other services for Sandusky County seniors.
Information on senior programs is available at www.glcap.org, and event and meal calendars are regularly updated in the monthly “Seniors on the Move” newsletter posted at www.glcap.org/seniors. The Sandusky County Senior Campus may also be reached at 419-334-8383.
