Senior Campus open extended hours due to heat wave

The Great Lakes Community Action Partnership Sandusky County Senior Campus will be open additional hours this weekend due to the extreme heat.

The facility will be open Friday until 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.  The center is located at 1101 Castalia Street, Fremont (the east wing of the Sandusky County Board of DD).  Meals will be provided (for donation) each day at noon and 5:30 p.m., at the center.  Suggested donation for meals for those 60-plus is $3. Cost for those under age 60 is $6.75.

“We know that extreme heat can be dangerous for seniors, so we want to provide a safe place for seniors to go this weekend, especially those who don’t have access to air conditioning,” GLCAP Senior Services Director Robin Richter said.  “Games, books, movies, and billiards will be available.

“We also encourage people in our community to check in on their senior friends, families and neighbors this weekend to make sure they are staying safe and cool.”

Visitors are welcome to drop in to get out of the heat for the afternoon or come for a meal.  Reservations for meals should be made by calling 419-334-8383.
