Sandusky County Senior Centers in Clyde, Fremont and Gibsonburg will close effective Monday, March 16, through Friday, April 3, due to the recent coronavirus pandemic.
Closures are being made with respect to guidance from federal, state and local health agencies that advise older adults are at a higher risk of infection from the coronavirus and should avoid crowds and remain at home as much as possible to limit the risk of possible infection. Senior center attendees have been notified of the closings and have been offered the option of receiving home-delivered meals during the period of closure.
“We know that many seniors rely on our centers for their daily meal, and so we are making every effort to ensure that all of our seniors can continue to receive a meal during the closure,” Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) President/CEO Ruthann House said.
Meals on Wheels deliveries for Sandusky County homebound seniors will continue as planned during the closure period. Meal delivery drivers will continue to take health and safety precautions including sanitizing and disinfecting vehicle surfaces, washing and sanitizing hands, and other measures to reduce risk of disease transmission.
